Wajuyu Festival

From Friday 7 to Sunday 9 November between 7 am and 10 pm.

The tribe of Roh warmly invites you to the famous Wajuyu Festival, celebrating Maré’s prized snapper, known for its exquisite, delicate flesh. Join us for three days of festivities alongside the fishermen of Maré Island, and immerse yourself in the island’s rich traditions and joyful spirit!

Every year, the Loyalty Island of Maré celebrates the avocado and... the wajuyu - or snapper - over a colourful weekend. It's an opportunity to discover the island in a whole new light, with Kanak customary ceremonies, tastings of this famous fish, fishing demonstrations and sightseeing tours organised by the locals. Take advantage of the festival to try out tribal hospitality and taste the famous bougna!
