The Jewels of Inagoj
Emerald green water holes are hidden in the middle of a lush forest.
They can be found at the end of a 2.5 km hike along the coast, climbing high coral cliffs to a dominant viewpoint, before plunging to three sinkholes, natural amphitheatres lurking in a jumble of dark and secret greenery. The long and narrow lines of light pierce the darkness of the undergrowth and hit the large emerald pools. The liquid surface is splashed with a greenish, vaporous glow. Trees stretch their frail or sturdy branches to the sky in search of light and project their tracing roots into the fractures in the jagged rock in search of nutrition. Finding your way on the plateau is not the easiest, but your guide knows the way by heart. It is advisable to leave early to reach the magnificent water holes (the famous jewels) when the sun is at its zenith, to benefit from optimal lighting.
