Hulup aerodrome transformed!
Hulup aerodrome transformed!
After the Mouli bridge, it is now the turn of Ouvea’s aerodrome to be modernised! Tourist reception facilities have been improved and an extension has been built.
This modernisation takes the form of a more spacious hall with an area of 800 m2, allowing for the ticket offices of the two local companies, Air Caledonie, and Air Loyaute (who operate daily flights between Mare, Ouvea and Lifou) to be gathered together under the same roof, and a large traditional fare has been built outside to improve passenger comfort and add a touch of conviviality.
With its more modern appearance, the structure has become more attractive, but also more efficient and fluid in managing the traffic of residents and tourists for both departure and arrival. Did you know that 80,000 passengers pass through this aerodrome every year?
The renovated facilities were inaugurated on Thursday, December 7th, 2023. The cost of the operation was approximately 146 million FCFP, financed by the Loyalty Islands Province with a financial contribution of 48 million FCFP from the French State.
